Ambode to inaugurate academy’s stadium

Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode is expected to inaugurate a new stadium t the New Hall Sport Academy, Lekki on Saturday. The facility built for the academy, which is an off-shoot of the New Hall International School, can accommodate 4,100 people. Chairman and Director of New Hall School, Abiodun Agbaje, said the construction of the ultra-modern stadium started last June. “We are glad to have this kind of innovation in Lagos being among the few of its kind and having worked so hard to get this done, the unveiling and commissioning will be done on Saturday the 16th with the full presence of the governor of Lagos state, Peter Rufai and other sports personalities,” he said. Agbaje added that the academy was conceived to nurture sporting talents, especially in football. “The future of the academy is tied with the future of the school, just like I said we made so much progress in the school and this is just an addition to those children that will need sport and football in particular to also do well in Life, the sky is just the beginning for the football academy. This project is a privately funded by me in preparation of my retirement, he added. The stadium also boasts of hotels that can accommodate up to 300 players, two swimming pools, a gym and other necessities like the technical and changing rooms, and the VIP section. UEFA licensed coach, Henry Uche said the academy is seeking international partnership with renowned English club, Manchester City. “We have both local and foreign organisations talking to us.  We are trying to partner with Manchester City in exchange for technical crew and even exchange for players, so we hope that in the years to come we’re going to be talking to Manchester city and other leagues. The field has been taken care of in terms of pitch quality and it is open to the academy and youths around the globe,” he said.
