My Barbie-like appearance is deceptive-says Ono Bello

Ono Bello is an entrepreneur and a style maven who is passionate about Nigerian businesses. She is the CEO/Editor-in-Chief of OnoBello Media – an online media and public relations company. In this interview with Yetunde Oladeinde, the tall modelesque beauty shares her story, Get Motivated project, why she is a big supporter of Nigerian and African fashion, beauty and lifestyle brands. What inspired you to be an online media entrepreneur? For me, my inspiration for going into my line of business came after I completed my Master’s degree. I was full of so many ideas and I knew they were being underutilised in my place of work, then I would say I was not totally fulfilled even though the job looked interesting to outsiders. It had become boring to me and I wanted more. I needed a place where my ideas were being put to good use. I wanted to start and grow them. I would say I had some BIG ideas but they were not being utilised and most people working in certain 9-5 jobs might be able to relate to that. So, I decided to start something small and put in everything I had to make it grow. I started my career in the media in 2005, just before I graduated from the university with my first degree, as a correspondent for the popular ThisDay Style magazine. I left briefly to further my educati...

I’m very shy in a crowd – OAP, Lerin a.k.a Tiny Talker

While many people make mistake co-host of “The Morning Drive” on Rhythm FM, Lagos, Lerin Nicodemus, aka Tiny Talker as an outgoing person, the OAP has revealed that she is an introvert. In a recent chat with The Nation, she revealed that it surprised many people that she is a very quiet person in reality. “It’s weird, I know, but I get very shy, especially in crowded places,” the accounting graduate stated. “The only exceptions would be when I’m working or surrounded by friends. In those cases, I am a clown.” Born in Bayelsa State, Lerin got her major breakthrough when she enrolled in Rhythm Voice Search 2017 in Lagos. “When a friend of mine sent me a screenshot of the Rhythm Voice Search flier for aspiring presenters to send in their entries, I was reluctant at first because I held the opinion that most of these talent hunt competitions were not won by merit,” said Tiny Talker who got the nickname due to her small physique. “But after much persuasion, I entered for the contest online and got an invitation to come for a live on-air audition and the rest is history.” Explaining how she became an on-air personality, Lerin insisted that radio discovered her. She noted, “When Radio Nigeria opened a new branch in Yenegoa, Bayelsa, in 2013, I got a message from...

Stop encouraging drug abuse, Shakar EL tells entertainers

According to the Enugu-born singer whose real name is Chukwudi Ezeagwa, the problem of alcoholism and drug use among youths is very serious. “I am really scared and sad about the rate of alcoholism and drug abuse among young entertainers and Nigerian youths in general,” he said. “The problem is very serious. I consume alcohol on a moderate level and back then I used to take more than enough till I learnt about the harm it can cause me and I reduced it and became a social drinker. I have never tried any drug before but the rate of drug abuse among Nigerian youths is really alarming. And I plan to do a song about that because it is through my voice and lyrics that I can preach to Nigerian youths to know that you can be hip without abusing drugs and alcohol. I also think that my fellow entertainers should stop encouraging drug abuse by smoking in public and making it look kool for their young fans that look up to them.” Speaking on what he is up to, Shakar El said: “I have a current single that I am promoting at the moment titled Olimango… Olimango is an international sound I pray it reaches its full potential.” Shakar El...
