Police rescue three kidnapped persons in Ogun

The Ogun Police Command said on Friday that it had rescued three persons kidnapped at Ode-Omi community in Ogun Waterside Local Government area of the state on Sunday. A statement issued in Abeokuta by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Abimbola Oyeyemi, said that the victims were rescued unhurt. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that suspected kidnappers had stormed the community on Sunday during the Eid-El Kabir celebrations, abducted the people and escaped in two speedboats. Road crash claims 1 on Lagos-Ibadan highway

The Ogun State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) says one person lost his life in a road crash at Danco, near Sagamu, on the Lagos-Ibadan highway. The Sector Commander, Mr Clement Oladele, told News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday in Ota that the accident happened at about 8.00 p.m on Friday. Oladele explained that a Toyota SUV with registration number GGE 30 DF, was coming from Lagos when the driver lost control due to speeding. He said that the driver veered off the road, somersaulted and crashed into a parked bus. “The corpse of the victim has been deposited at the mortuary of Idera Hospital in Sagamu, Ogun State,’’ he said. The FRSC boss advised motorists to obey traffic rules and regulations to avoid avoidable road crashes and its attendant fatalities.

APC suspends 3 executives over petition against Gov Fintiri

The Adamawa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has suspended three leading members for attempting to withdraw the party’s petition against Governor Ahmadu Fintiri. They are: Alhaji Aliyu Bakari (Adamawa Central Zonal Vice-Chairman); Alhaji Saidu Naira (State Financial Secretary) and Alhaji Babangida Talase (Party Chairman for Mayo-Belwa Local Government Area). In a statement by APC Publicity Secretary, Hon Mohammed Abdullahi, the party said the three sabotaged its interest by approaching the governorship election tribunal to withdraw the party’s petition against the election Fintiri, who is of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as governor. The APC had filed a petition Fintiri’s election following the last governorship poll which the APC is questioning at the tribunal. But the APC said in its statement that the three leaders sabotaged the interest of the party by attempting to withdraw the petition. Lagos SDP gets acting Chairman, Publicity Secretary

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Lagos State has appointed Mr Olufemi Olaniyi, popularly known as Ferrari, as its acting Chairman. The party’s state Publicity Secretary, Lekan Adebiyi, said in a statement issued on Friday in Lagos that the appointment was sequel to the suspension of the chairman, Chief Tunde Onakoya, for alleged anti-party activities. He said that Olaniyi’s appointment was ratified at an appraisal meeting held by the new executive members, party leaders and elders from the South-West, local government chairmen and other party faithful. Enugu police arrest alleged killers of 2 Catholic priests

The police command in Enugu has arrested no fewer than 30 criminal suspects, including the alleged killers of two Catholic priests, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Sulaiman Balarabe, has said. Indian Police arrest Nigerian for travelling with fake Cote d’Ivoire passport

Fidelis was travelling to Turkey from India when he was found out to be holding a fake passport. A 35-year-old Nigerian, Ndukwe Fidelis has reportedly been arrest by police operatives in India for travelling into the country with a fake Cote d’Ivoire passport. Government of Ghana relocates 470 megawatts power ship to the Western region

The government of Ghana has relocated the 470 megawatts Krandeniz Powership Osman Khan arrived at the anchorage of the Home Port of the Western Naval Command at Sekondi in the Western Region on Thursday, August 15, 2019. The power ship was moved from the Tema Port to its current destination. The power ship is expected to continue to use heavy fuel oil (HFO) until the middle of November 2019 when it will be connected to natural gas. The Bank of Ghana has with immediate effect revoked the licences of twenty-three (23) insolvent savings and loans companies and finance house companies. The affected institutions include GN Savings and Loans, ASN Financial Services, Midland Savings and Loans, Unicredit Savings and Loans and Women’s World Banking Savings and Loans.
